As I stated in my last post, thanks to the Board of Supervisors, the school board has a bit more money in the budget to help make the district run. On Tuesday, May 6, the school board meeting includes a public hearing regarding our provisionary budget. You can see the 2025-2026 budget priorities and sign up for public comment here.
To recap a few other board activities, Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, the board spent time at the Highlander Hotel in Radford doing some training facilitated by the Virginia School Boards Association, setting legislative priorities, and having preliminary discussions about updating the MCPS strategic plan.
T.S. Eliot said April is the cruellest month, but May could very well be the busiest. As we barrel toward graduation and the last day of school, each week is filled with events, performances, meetings, tests, and athletic competitions.
Metallica’s visit to Blacksburg is causing quite a stir (and an early release on May 7, parents). I have to say, my favorite rendition of Enter Sandman is by the Kipps Elementary School 3 O’Clock Band …
I will write a meeting recap after Tuesday. As always, thanks for reading!
